The name Bay State Arms Co appears the first itme in the Uxbridge Copendium of October 2, 1884. A further notice of January 23, 1885 informs us that the company made 25 guns daily.

Shotguns, mainly based on W.H. Davenport's and J.W. Day patents, (pistols?) Rifles, Gallery Peep Sight and Graduated Peep Sight are options. The barrel of these guns can be detached by taking out a screw key.

.22 caliber, Gallery and Swirrel rifle, single-shot, 26" octagonal barrel. This model is also named Grossness.

.32 caliber, Swirrel and Deer rifle, single-shot, 26" octagonal barrel. This model is also named Groundless.

.38 caliber, Hunter and Target rifle, single-shot, 26" octagonal barrel. This model is also named Grouping.

.22 caliber, Boys Swirrel rifle, single-shot, short stock, 20" octagonal barrel. This model is also named Grouped.

.32 caliber, Boys Swirrel rifle, single-shot, short stock, 20" octagonal barrel. This model is also named Grouse.

The company was acquired by Hopkins & Allen in the late 1880s but the company was still active until 1895 and H & A continued to manufacture theire rifles. Some of them are found with Merwin Hulbert & Co. markings.
